Changes to sample requirements
Changes happening on Monday 15th January 2018
From 15th January the following changes are being made to sample tube requirements with the requesting module in ICE order comms amended accordingly:
- Single Purple Top EDTA tube required when glycated Hb (HbA1c) and FBC both requested (currently ICE instructs 2 tubes)
- Immunology tests will now require a Gold Top Serum tube (where a red top was previously requested). This will be indicated by (I) suffix in the specimen collection instructions. Where possible, please ensure a separate gold is taken for Immunology as sharing of sample with other departments leads to result delays or insufficient sample for testing. More information here.
- Reduction in volume requirements for some Biochemistry tests (will reduce number of serum tube requirements for some test combinations)
