Background:
Investigation of aluminium toxicity
Most commonly requested in renal patients taking aluminium-containing phosphate binders (alucaps). Toxicity due to aluminium content of dialysis fluid is rare, due to improved preparative procedures.
Consider monitoring in renal patients receiving TPN, aluminium-containing infant formula, or plasma exchange. Analysis is also indicated if industrial exposure is suspected.
