Necessary before blood products can be provided to patients.
ABO and RhD typing of patients' red cells and the detection and identification of anomalous red cell antibodies that may delay the provision of blood products.
Other Comments:
Sample saved for 6 days although a fresh sample may be required in the event of a transfusion (dependent on previous transfusion history).

ADDRESSOGRAPH LABELS MUST NOT BE USED ON BLOOD TUBE
Two samples taken via separate venepunctures (with separate request forms) are necessary before blood products can be provided.
