Hyperammonaemia investigations
Background:
Appropriate tests include:
- ammonia, urea and electrolytes, liver function tests and amino acids
- urine organic and amino acids and orotic acid
- lactate and glucose measurement
Elevated ammonia levels should always be confirmed with a repeat specimen.
