Prothrombin genotype
Background:
Testing for the prothrombin G20210A variant.
For the investigation of patients with unexplained venous thromboembolism (VTE) or those with a family history of the prothrombin G20210A variant. Testing in minors is not indicated without prior consultation with Regional Clinical Genetics Service.
NOTE: Inappropriate requests for genetic tests may be rejected by the laboratory. Please provide as much relevant clinical detailĀ as possible. Rejected samples will be stored in the laboratory for two months.
