Background:
Investigation of multiple myeloma
Myeloma screening should only be performed in patients with features or lab results suggestive of myeloma e.g. unexplained renal dysfunction, anaemia, hypercalcaemia, bone pain, recurrent infections.
A urine sample should also be sent for Bence-Jones protein.
Repeat requests within 6 months will not be processed (1 month for known myeloma patients or Haematology requests).
